It’s not easy being a food bank in today’s world. The cost of living continues to rise, which means more need and less for others to give. Plus, the amount of government aid continues to dwindle, making things even more challenging. North Helpline, a nonprofit food bank and homelessness prevention organization with locations in Lake City and Bitter Lake, is feeling the weight. That’s one of the reasons they turned to our Seattle video production to create an impact video for their annual fundraising event.
Our video production team used a single shoot day to capture b-roll and interviews at the Lake City location. We spoke with North Helpline employees, volunteers, and neighbors (those who receive support from North Helpline) to learn about the challenges of operating a food bank, as well as the hope the organization brings to community members in need.
Resources continue to be cut, and demand for goods continues to rise. So our call to action became neighbors helping neighbors; the community coming together to assist one another. And that’s exactly what happened at the annual fundraising event. Thanks to generous donors and community members, North Helpline raised more than $180,000, the most successful fundraiser yet.
And as I always preach, North Helpline made the most of the content we captured. On top of storytelling for the fundraiser, the nonprofit also asked us to turn our authentic interviews with neighbors into individual stories. The organization walked away with even more content than they planned, multiplying their return on investment.
