The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is right around the corner at Sahalee Country Club. To prepare for the major event, the PGA of America hired us to capture drone video and beauty shots of the course. Sahalee has undergone renovations since the last major played there in 2016 and the PGA needed fresh video content for their broadcast.

To get the most pristine, golfer-free shots of Sahalee Country Club requires an early arrival. Our drone pilot arrived at 5:15 to capture the sunrise (around 5:30am) and get video of the course before golfers arrived and teed off for the day (scheduled for 8am). Once the golfers tee off, it’s essential to stay ahead of play and not interfere with the member’s experience on the course.

Not to mention avoiding the Sahalee Country Club maintenance team, which is on the course ahead of play to ensure Sahalee is always in peak condition for its members. In other words, there is a lot to juggle to capture the best possible drone video and beauty shots. That also includes a sun low in the sky and massive trees covering the golf course.

If you haven’t played at Sahalee Country Club, it’s a stunning course. The agronomy team recently revamped bunkers around the course, which makes it look much different than when the Women’s PGA Championship was played there in 2016. That means any footage the PGA of America has from that tournament is out of date.

Loaded with too many drone batteries to count (they don’t last long when you’re shooting), we took to the championship course to capture tee-to-green flyovers of several holes, beauty shots around the course, and fly over the water and through the trees to reveal the many challenges of playing at Sahalee Country Club. Luckily, drone technology allows us to capture creative shots that aren’t possible any other way.

The PGA of America has hired our Seattle video production and content creation company before. We flew a drone over the golf course just a year prior. Our drone video helped the PGA of America announce Sahalee Country Club as the next year’s host. Unfortunately, construction on the course wasn’t complete by then, requiring additional drone video and beauty shots this year.

Sahalee Country Club Drone Video and Beauty Shots

As a former sportscaster, I have covered many major sporting events. But it’s a thrill to capture drone video for the PGA of America ahead of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. It will be fun to see our footage used leading up to and during the nationally televised event in June. Video production is meant to be seen, and in this case, it will be seen in a big way.

Whether you need drone video of your golf course, drone video for construction, or anything else, our team will help.
