ROOTS Young Adult Shelter is the largest emergency shelter for young people in Washington, and it’s going through a major transition. After losing their original home, they bought an old fraternity house in Seattle’s University District. They did minor renovations to move in and continue providing overnight shelter service. But now the organization is looking much bigger. And that’s why they contacted our video production and content creation company to help create a fundraising video.
The Vision
ROOTS Young Adult Shelter wants to become a community hub. They’re aiming to complete renovations on their building to make that happen. On top of that, they want to operate 24 hours a day instead of just overnight. The vision is to provide space for community partners and case workers to help young people experiencing homelessness on their journey to stability.
But, as you might imagine, renovations and expanded hours of operation are expensive. One of the ways ROOTS Young Adult Shelter raises funds is through its annual Rise Up gala. As part of the gala, the organization wanted a fundraising video. And that’s where our team stepped in.
The ROOTS Young Adult Shelter Fundraising Video
We used a full-day video shoot with the incredible team at ROOTS Young Adult Shelter to capture interviews and b-roll. On top of that, we also conducted a walkthrough with the project architect. Using renderings and the walkthrough, we showed how the spaces currently look, how they will appear in the future, and how people will utilize them once complete.
The fundraising video and Rise Up were both a smashing success. ROOTS Young Adult Shelter secured triple the donations it had made a year prior, breaking a record for the non-profit organization.
Jordan Beaudry, the director of development for ROOTS Young Adult Shelter, shared positive news about our fundraising video, saying: “The video was extremely well received and a huge part of that success!”
And ROOTS Young Adult Shelter continues to see return on investment with our fundraising video.
“We’re now disseminating it to community partners and other supporters, where it’s continuing to make a big impact,” said Beaudry.
