As an independently owned and operated build material supplier, Western Materials does things differently. They aren’t part of a conglomerate and don’t have to appease shareholders. That allows them to keep customer service and employee experience at the forefront. And as you’re about to find out, they’ve been doing that as a company for nearly 110 years.
Western Materials headquarters sits on 1st Street in Yakima. It’s one of the busiest streets in the city. They are a known and loved company in Central and Eastern Washington, with two branches in Yakima, and one each in Wenatchee and Pasco. Several years ago, Western Materials expanded south by opening branches in Vancouver, Washington, and Tigard, Oregon. And now, they’ve moved into the Puget Sound market with branches in Auburn, Belfair, and Lakewood.
If you know Western Materials, you love Western Materials. As John Corbett, Western Materials general manager of roofing operations in Puget Sound, said: “For many of our customers, dealing with Western Materials is like dealing with an old friend.” Those customers are primarily contractors and subcontractors working in the construction industry. But it takes time to build relationships and a strong reputation when you move into a new market.
That’s where our Seattle video production and content creation company comes in. Western Materials partnered with us to share their powerful story. To do that, we grinded our tails off through two full-day video shoots: the first at headquarters in Yakima and the other at branches in Belfair and Lakewood. We captured interviews and b-roll in each location to help share the Western Materials story, its independent drive and spirit, and its focus on customer service and employee experience.
The video now allows the company to start building relationships and its reputation before a customer walks into a branch. It also helps showcase the company on a national level, allowing Western Materials to share the video at conferences and trade shows. And that’s the power of video: it allows you to engage an audience with powerful storytelling, especially when told in an authentic way — no scripting, just straight from the heart.
After completion of the video, Andy Martinkus, Western Materials president and COO, shared this incredible testimonial with me:
“Moarly Creative was the perfect company for us to partner with to tell our story. They took the time to really understand our culture. Tim and his crew were very organized, professional, and a joy to work with throughout the entire video production process.”
