Opticyte is a medical device company that’s on a mission to save lives and bring greater equity to healthcare. They’ve created a device called Vital02 that provides real-time blood and cell oxygen measurements. This is a massive achievement and one that needs support. That’s why Opticyte turned to StartEngine and why our Seattle video production and content creation company was asked to help.
For those not familiar with StartEngine, it’s a crowdfunding platform that allows everyday investors to invest in startups like Opticyte. A company runs a campaign on the platform, and many campaigns include a featured video (at least most of the successful ones do). To make the most of their StartEngine campaign, Opticyte wanted a video and we were there to help.
Opticyte Video Shoot
Our video production team used a single shoot day at the University of Washington and UW Medical Center to capture interviews and b-roll. We interviewed Opticyte CEO Lori Arakaki and a testimonial from Rosemary Adamson, an attending physician in pulmonary and critical care medicine. We also shot Lori and Rosemary using the Opticyte device with a patient and we also captured the two together inside the lab.
Opticyte StartEngine Storytelling
Once we wrapped the shoot, I transcribed and logged the interviews and then created a script for the StartEngine video. We wanted the story to be as impactful as possible in a consumable length of time. And that’s a bit of a challenge when you need to discuss two solutions that Vital02 delivers: an accurate measurement for all skin tones (which unbelievably isn’t available in today’s world) and real-time cellular oxygenation to help prevent organ failure and death associated with sepsis.
Opticyte StartEngine Video
The Opticyte StartEngine video combines powerful storytelling and impactful facts and figures. That combination proved to be extremely successful. Opticyte shattered its 24 hour goal on StartEngine, receiving multiple investors and more than $70,000 on the first day alone. The Opticyte campaign was then featured on the StartEngine front page and labeled as Most Momentum, ranking in the top 15 campaigns platform-wide for the amount of money raised in 72 hours.
It’s hard to say exactly how much impact our video had on that StartEngine success. But there’s no doubt it helped Opticyte reach its fundraising goal. We’re thrilled that our efforts are assisting what we believe to be an extraordinary device get into the hands of those who need it most, ultimately saving lives and leveling the racial equity playing field.
